Back in December, the Judiciary’s Transparency and Open Justice Board asked for views on its proposed objectives (which had been promised in the earlier Terms of Reference for the Board).
Members of the Courts and Tribunals Observers’ Network have responded and we are sharing some of our submissions here, plus others we have located online [updating]:
If you would like your own submission to be linked to, or uploaded, please contact us.
NB: Some of us observed that the second two objectives in the document were not objectives as such, rather caveats or obstacles to delivering open justice (as also mentioned in the original Terms of Reference). Additionally, the format of the questions and response form made it quite difficult to provide feedback. We suggest the Board re-considers the type of questions and form design for future such exercises. Members of the Network would be happy to help advise on that! Nonetheless, we were pleased to have this opportunity to engage.
